# 5: The Trees
Each issue I'll post some art of mine, I hope you enjoy it.
This piece is quite an old one that I did in the 90’s with Painter, a natural media painting program of the time. It is of a ritual involving figures that are partly masked as animals, invoking the idea of the ceremonies of traditional witchcraft where the dancers become possessed by their spirit animal helpers. I like it because of the colour and the freeness of its execution, I wasn’t attempting to be very precise or accurate - just exploring the painting program. I did go back and put more detail in the figures later.
I suppose I have a soft spot for it even though it contrasts with much of my other work, but I don’t really have a single style anyway which is a fact that frustrates potential agents. If any are looking at this, please get in touch!
